    Allegory of the Cave

People have gathered around fires for millennia to share fables, weave myths, and cast shadows that dance on cave walls. Now, Allegory of the Cave breathes new life into these ancient traditions. This unique production combines traditional improv with the captivating arts of puppetry and shadow theatre, weaving elements of mythology, folklore, and timeless storytelling. Prepare for big ideas, memorable characters, and epic adventures that unfold live before your eyes—no two shows alike, but each a journey into the unknown.

The Allegory of the Cave is an innovative improvised shadow theatre show that explores the stories behind ancient myths, folktales, and fables, reimagined and brought to life for a modern audience.

The Allegory of the Cave is directed by Rosalind Gregoire and Audra Goffeney, in collaboration with Jennifer Jordan and Robert MacKie. They all perform in the show, as improvisers and puppeteers.

Together, they bring a rich blend of fantasy, folklore, and shadow theatre techniques to the world of improv, crafting performances that transport audiences into realms of myth and wonder. With over 40 years of collective experience in making things up, they have honed our craft across countless stages, from local venues in London to international festivals.
